Results have improved dramatically over the past few years, 51% of students gained 5A*-C including English and Mathematics in 2013-14. Amidst a national background of plummeting GCSE results, Shireland saw its English results rise by 3%, with 68% of students gaining at least a C grade and 64% gaining a C grade or above in Mathematics.


86% of students made expected progress in English last year, the highest in the authority. Shireland carries some of the best value added marks in the region ensuring that students at all levels accomplish all they can.


At Post 16 Shireland students have hit record results this year with an A2 pass rate of 95%. Students secured places at prestigious universities up and down the country including students gaining places for Medicine and Dentistry at Birmingham University.
