Collegiate Academy Trust

The Collegiate Academy Trust is a registered charity that was established in September 2007 to run two Academies in Sandwell - George Salter Collegiate Academy, Claypit Lane, West Bromwich and Shireland Collegiate Academy, Waterloo Road, Smethwick. It has an Executive Principal who is the statutory head of both Academies and Principal of Shireland. George Salter has it’s own Principal who manages the Academy on a “day to day” basis.

There is then a Board with 15 Trustees, which makes all the strategic decisions about the work of both Academies. The sponsor of the Collegiate Academy Trust is the Ormiston Trust and our Chair is Peter Murray the head of this Trust.

Shireland Post 16 Centre

Post 16 provides valuable continuity of learning and is structured to equip students with the qualifications and personal qualities needed to face the challenges of higher education and an ever changing job market.

Courses and Qualifications

There is a wide choice of courses available for students who have successfully completed their GCSEs, from traditional academic exam-based subjects to applied courses and vocationally oriented OCR Nationals and BTECs.
