At Shireland Collegiate Academy, every student will:
- study at least three languages
- have a first class range of languages to choose from, including German, Panjabi, Urdu, French, Japanese, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese
- enjoy the most up-to-date language facilities in Sandwell including satellite TV, Internet and videoconferencing
- leave Academy with a Shireland Portfolio of Language Competence endorsed by local businesses
- follow a full GCSE course in at least one foreign language
- study for the RSA Certificate in a second language
- have an opportunity to study extra languages at lunchtime or after Academy
- be able to do homework and study in the multimedia World Languages Centre
- take part in a study visit abroad
- work with native speakers in all languages studied
- be able to attend weekend revision GCSE workshops
- be able to improve their fluency by working with Foreign Language Assistants
- communicate with young people across the world using the Internet and videoconferencing
- take part in a range of international projects in Creative Arts, Humanities, English, Maths, Science, Technology and PE
Our local family of schools, our community and local businesses will be able to:
- make use of the City Learning Centre for language learning
- take part in language classes
- attend Language Easter Schools
- attend Parent Language classes in conjunction with the Asian Language Centre and the City Learning Centre
