Learning Support
Students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), and those in the early stages of learning English as an additional language, from Year 7 to Post 16, are supported by a range of staff in the Learning Support Department.
A key strand of their work is the development of literacy skills, but students with identified SEN, including visual or hearing impairment and physical disabilities, are also supported in some of their lessons, so that they can meet the demands of class work and achieve academic success.
The Learning Support Department is a busy and welcoming place. Students come to read before the start of lessons, attend a daily lunchtime club where they can play games and make friends, and are encouraged to use homework club each afternoon after school to complete work in a supportive environment. |
